I wrote before about the fortune-telling exhibition I created (with Imogen Knox and Francesca Farnell) to celebrate Coventry’s year as City of Culture. Reading people’s palms and helping them to dangle sieves from shears was a lot of fun, but I wanted to make a digital alternative, so that the exhibition can have an ongoing impact. After a lot of grappling with code, I’ve finally got it all up and running! Hosted at www.starsandsieves.com, the exhibition features lots of information about early modern divination and diviners; many interactive activites, which let you try out telling your own fortune (among other things); and a ‘choose your own adventure’ style story in which you take on the role of a seventeenth-century English woman. For those who might be interested in using any of the resources in HE teaching, there’s also a curriculum guide. Please have a look and let me know what you think!
