I published a short piece on divination in The Conversation: https://theconversation.com/divination-in-early-modern-britain-sought-signs-in-swine-the-stars-and-scripture-241825
It introduces some of the themes explored more fully in the digital exhibition Stars, Sieves & Stories. I love the story about Mary Smith, who hoodwinked a young apprentice with by claiming to practise astrology ‘before very great people, princes, and the like’. There are also prophetic pigs, spinning sieves and liaisons with the Fairy Queen.
